Real Life Begins

Filed under: Updates — steven @ 12:34 am

I finished moving into my new apartment this morning…as in I got tons of boxes stacked everywhere.  I start working full time bright and early monday morning, porting our enterprise collaboration synchronization software to Novell Groupwise.  We have a Microsoft Exchange expert that I learned that system from, and a Lotus Domino expert that I learned that system from…I was going to be working on Exchange but apparently Novell contacted us and said "wow we love Email Accelerator, we’ll support you in an attempt to port it to Groupwise and if we like it we’ll OEM it."  And…they didn’t have a developer for that, but I’m starting, so I get to have that responsibility.  It’s kind of scary, but I think I should be able to handle the challenge.

Europe

Filed under: Updates — Rachel @ 10:48 pm

Friday I got back from my trip to Europe.  I thought I’d tell a little about it.  A teacher from my school took a group of six of us to Europe.  We flew to Rome (spelled Roma) and stayed two nights.  While there, we went to the Vatican City, the Colloseum, and the Trevi Fountain among other places.  It was really cool seeing what the Romans were able to achieve hundreds of years ago.  After Roma, we travelled by bus to a hillside city called Assissi.  It was beautiful there.  When you think of Italy with the narrow cobblestone streets with buildings that have flowerboxes on the windows, that is what Assissi is like.  After a short stay in Assissi, we continued on our way to Florence (spelled Firenze) and stayed a night.  There we saw the Duomo and some other famous things.  Then we took a night train to Paris.  We crammed all seven of us and our luggage into the cabin made for six.  That was quite interesting.  We stayed two nights in Paris where we saw the Eiffel Tower, the Museum Rodin, the Louvre, the Arc de Triumphe, and Notre Dame.  We took the Eurostar underneath the English Channel to London where we stayed two nights.  In London we saw Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and the Tate modern art museum, which was really cool.  I really didn’t want to come home, but we had to.  I just hope I’ll be able to save enough money for a trip next year.  But that’s pretty much my trip… watch for pictures!

Graduation

Filed under: Updates — Rachel @ 10:45 pm

Well I’ve finally graduated.  Mom and Dad have probably long awaited and dreaded these days, but they’ve already come and gone.  I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by and 2005 is nearly half over.  But for those who don’t already know, I am going down to Georgia Tech in the fall and so far, I’m majoring in computer science.  This is all I’ve got for now.

Defeat of Physics

Filed under: Updates — steven @ 7:03 pm

After 3 failed attempts I finally passed Physics II. Now I’m starting my final semester in school, taking my last required humanity (I chose Science Fiction), and 7 hours of free electives (I chose Microeconomics and a research project). Both of my classes end at the beginning of July. Graduation from Georgia Tech should be on Friday, August 5th.

That is my biggest news right now.

Hello World

Hi, this is our new site. Theoretically, we can all post entries about our current activities and such, although who knows if anybody will be motivated enough to do that. We shall see. Anyway, it’s no worse than the old site.
